Carolyn Luscombe, CSEM, CSEP, CMP

Carolyn started her career in 1995. Carolyn has experience in the disciplines of event management, entertainment and meeting management.

Carolyn is well-educated in the field of entertainment, event management and meeting management. In 1995, she received a 2 year diploma in Entertainment Administration from Durham College, Oshawa. In 1998, she obtained the CSEC (Certified Special Events Coordinator) certification and CSEM in 1999 (Certified Special Events Manager) certification through OTEC. In August 1999, she enrolled in the ISES CSEP program became Canada’s fifth CSEP in January 2001. In her quest to raise the bar in the event and meeting industries, she wrote her CMP exam in July 2001 and became the first Canadian CSEP to also achieve a designation in the discipline of meeting management. She also has enrolled both her staff members in the George Brown Event & Meeting Management certificate program and in the CSEC program. She is also a licenced booking agent with the AF of M (American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada.)

She has acted as a mentor and role model to a number of budding event planners for the last seven years, teaching them not only the tricks of the trade but the integrity that goes hand in hand with them and encouraging them to further their education in the field of event management. She does this through her position as an instructor, at the workplace and through being a trained evaluator and public speaker for OTEC (Ontario Tourism Education Corporation.) Through her involvement in ISES over the last five years, she has become an official member, sat as a Director on the Toronto Chapter and was Vice President of Education for the Toronto Chapter. Currently, Carolyn is the the President of the ISES Toronto Chapter. Carolyn was the Auction Chair for the 2002 and 2003 Galas which each raised a record total of over $7,000.00 for the chapter. She utilized students from George Brown College to allow them an opportunity to expand their skills and network within the industry. She has also held the position of a Director on the Durham College Alumni Board.

Carolyn has contributed articles on entertainment and site selection published by The TSE (Toronto Special Events Directory) in the last three issues and most recently in Special Events Magazine and has been featured in recent issues of The Canadian Event Perspective. She has been invited again to write for the next TSE edition to be released May 2004. Carolyn is also the past Directing Editor of the ISES Magazine, Eventworld published monthly in Special Events Magazine.

Carolyn has been a college instructor teaching this profession for seven years at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. Carolyn is also a curriculum advisor and content developer for the new Event & Meeting Management Certificate created for the college by top meeting industry professionals. She has also co-written and is teaching “Program Design 1 and Program Design 2.” Carolyn continues to teach “Fundraising and Sponsorship for Meetings, Festivals and Events.” Carolyn also developed and teaches a course in the certificate program called Law and Liability with regard to hospitality. Carolyn teaches two courses per semester with three semesters per year.

Carolyn has also been invited to sit on The Durham College Entertainment Administration Advisory Board with the main purposes being to provide input and insight into the existing program and to participate and share in the discussion of new ideas.

In 1997 Carolyn brought back the first Canadian Event Industry Award for “Best Entertainment For a Corporation”. Her work has also been nominated internationally for event planning awards. In 2000 and 2001, she was nominated for Producer of the Year at the CEIA Awards.

Carolyn and her company have also been nominated for The 2001 Special Event Magazine Gala Awards in the categories of Best Event Produced for a Private Individual, Budget Under $50,000 as well as Best Event Entertainment Concept and Execution, Entertainment Budget Under $25,000. The awards will be held in Phoenix, AZ in January 2002. At the 2001 Canadian Event Industry Awards she received another nomination for Producer of the Year, Best Event Produced for a Private Individual and Best Décor Concept under $10,000.00. Later in 2001, an event she produced was nominated for the 2001 ISES Esprit Awards in Best Social Event Under $50,000.00. Eclectic Events International was proud to receive this award in 2001.

Roberta Prear
Corporate Event Consultant/Client Care Representative

Roberta began her career at Eclectic in late 2001. Roberta is a veteran in the entertainment industry starting several years ago while working in the CBC’s Film Department. After a hiatus, she returned to the work force as our Client Care Representative and Corporate Event Consultant. Roberta works directly with many of our clients, bringing sunshine to everything she does. Her excellent communication skills, patience and friendliness represent our philosophies perfectly.

Harold
Onsite Event Producer

Harold started his career in the hospitality industry in the late 1980's. Through the years, he has worked in various areas of the hospitality and event industry, from a head waiter and bartender for banquets, to bar manager responsible for staffing, entertainment, and customer service. Harold has a diploma in the field of Child and Youth Worker, which he has applied very well to kid's events and fundraisers.ÊHe is a graduate of the Event and Meeting Management (EMM) Certificate Program at George Brown College. ÊHarold began working as an onsite coordinator with Eclectic in 2002. He has worked on many of Eclectic's events, both behind the scenes as well as onsite as a leading producer. Being bilingual in French and English, he is always looking for opportunities to servicing clients in both languages. Harold is dedicated to having participants leave events with a memorable experience.

Sara Ico
Event Coordinator & Producer

Sara began her career at Eclectic in 2004 as an onsite producer/site lead, joining the team full time in 2008. A former student of George Brown College's Event & Meeting Management program, she brings both her academic and hands-on experience to every event. Having a previous career background within the corporate sector allows Sara to work with our clients in meeting their objectives and creating events and conferences that speak to their attendees, leaving a lasting impression.Ê

Helen Zegouras
Event Coordinator / Event Producer

Helen Zegouras is a graduate of the Event and Meeting Management (EMM) Certificate Program at George Brown College. In 2003, Helen received the prestigious ISES Toronto Leadership Award in the Student Member category. She began working with Eclectic in 2002. Helen works on all of Eclectic's events, both behind the scenes as well as onsite as a leading Producer. At present, Helen is a part-time instructor in Event and Meeting Management (EMM) at George Brown College and is currently enrolled in the OTEC CSEC (Certified Special Events Coordinator) Certificate program.

Steven McFarlane

Steve was a manager at a language school in Japan for many years where he was responsible for planning professional development training sessions and staff meetings. After returning to Toronto, he decided to pursue formal studies of event & meeting planning and is currently enrolled in the Event and Meeting Management (EMM) program at George Brown College. As a freelance producer prior to his joining the team full time, he has worked with Eclectic on many of our award-winning corporate events and is committed to maintaining the high standards of excellence our clients expect. Steven manages the office's day-to-day operations, behind-the-scenes event operations and works onsite as a producer.

Rheana Criscione
Event Coordinator & Producer

Rheana is the newest member of the Eclectic Events International team. She has a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and has almost completed all courses for a certificate in Event and Meeting Management (EMM) at George Brown College. She has been working in the hospitality and event planning/coordination industry for the past two years. She has gained invaluable experience on various events, including galas, award shows, industry events, charity auctions, seminars, and children's parties, through both professional and volunteer roles. Rheana brings a love of everything green into her events by researching and proposing environmentally friendly products wherever possible.
